Detect Issues & Optimize Performance in the Eclipse IDE

Software developer ZeroTurnaround, which makes a suite of java productivity tools, has announced a free Eclipse plugin that detects and fixes common configuration issues faced by those using the integrated development environment.

Even though it's one of the most widely used IDEs, it does have its performance problems.

"What Java developer hasn't, at some point in time, thought, 'Wow, my Eclipse is really slow today,'" said Jevgeni Kabanov, Founder and CEO of ZeroTurnaround. "We wanted to make coding in Eclipse more enjoyable by taking away the developer frustrations of a slow environment. We like to think of Optimizer for Eclipse as a jetpack for your Eclipse environment."

The plugin developed by ZeroTurnaround, Optimizer for Eclipse, evaluates the users' environment by performing checks on key configuration issues (insufficient memory allocation, excessive indexes and history, obsolete or slow JDK) that can negatively impact the IDE user experience. Users can then choose which items they wish to fix and allow the plugin to automatically speed up their Eclipse environment.
