Phishing Fraud No More

In October 2006, a US Department of Homeland Security Report estimated that direct financial losses due to phishing alone exceed a billion dollars per year. And this year there has been a significant increase in the number of phishing attacks, with a new twist - now the scammers have been using domain only validated SSL certificates to deceive visitors into thinking the site is legitimate. Today DigiCert Inc., an SSL Security company that specializes in providing High-Assurance SSL Certificates, announced that it will be providing Extended Validation (EV) SSL Certificates in January. These new "Super Certificates" will combat phishers and online scammers with strong identity authentication to protect consumers from fraud.
