Dolphin-Like Sonar Comes to Social

Posted on 10.22.2013

Brands that want to enlist "sonar" assistance to help uncover trends and influencers on any subject, may want to check out the Bottlenose Nerve Center, which is a trend intelligence application - locating trends that matter.

A social media manager, for example, can search people and topics they know and instantly see what’s happening, what’s trending and who is influencing the conversation right now. This will help them either find the best angle for engaging with influencers or tailor social media posts or even company products to trends or problems. Aside from sentiment analysis, the live dashboard (pictured below) features trending messages by type (complaints, questions, endorsements, etc.), real-time key performance indicators (KPIs), etc.

The Bottlenose Nerve Center is for commercial use, but anyone can try out the Sonar Solo trend visualization tool free. Users can search any topic to find trends and influencers about any subject in real time. For example, in the image below, we searched (probably to our Editor-In-Chief's dismay) “Real Housewives”, so the words in orange are trends that are gaining speed, while green and red (look for the name "Camille Grammer" below) indicate positive or negative sentiment, respectively.

For a more business-focused topic, let’s look at SEOmoz. What conclusions can you make from the sonar trend tool?
