Dot Berlin on the Move among gTLDs
A few months back, Website Magazine published an article on its picks for the hottest new gTLDs that would be released in 2014.
One of the categories that seemed most appealing at the time was that of those indicating some particular geographic area. As these new extensions roll out, what we initially suspected is quickly becoming true.
Dot Berlin, for example, received well over 30,000 registrations on its first day (putting it a relatively close second to .GURU which had approximately 45,000 registrations.
The current cost of a .Berlin domain registration (retail), which does not have any residence or nexus requirements (meaning anyone on the world can register one) is about $60. Germany is an enormous potential market as its the capital city of the country and has a population of 3.5 million.
