Dot Storage The Latest nTLD
Storage-related businesses can now register a .STORAGE domain name. While there have been some successes (and many failures) with the introduction of new top-level domains over the past few years (see the top 50 new top level domain extensions) many believe the dot storage extension does have potential.
To qualify for early domain name registration, an organization simply has to demonstrate a connection to a storage-related industry such as cold storage, data storage, energy storage, food storage, gun storage, self-storage, warehouse storage or other storage.
During the recently completed Trademark Sunrise Period, a number of brands have registered .STORAGE domains including Apple, Amazon, Chanel, EMC, Hitachi, Home Depot, IKEA, Microsoft, Wal-Mart and others.
“We saw some significant global and household brands register their names on the .STORAGE domain during the brand phase,” said Paul Yoachum, Self Storage Company chief marketing officer. “Now our focus is turning to storage-related businesses and industries. With the dwindling number of available .com sites, this is a great opportunity to get a more recognizable website address that can help with awareness, marketing and online exposure.”
General .STORAGE domain availability begins Jan. 10, 2017. Retail pricing is set by individual registrars, with standard domains starting at $54.99 (USD).
