E-Commerce in Your Twitter Stream
While information publishers and service providers still struggle with how to best use the platform, Twitter is reportedly extremely close to releasing an e-commerce solution of its own, as a new deal pends between the social network and payments startup Stripe.
Little is actually known about the pending arrangement, but the two companies would likely work together to introduce functionality that would enable retailers to accept purchases directly from inside a tweet. Music, movies and more are likely headed directly to the Twitter stream in the next few months.
A variety of third-party e-commerce solutions have flirted with commerce solutions for Twitter in the past, but since tightening the reins on its API and introducing a formal advertising platform (as well as going public), the time may have arrived for T-Commerce.
Payments solution Stripe was actually listed as one of the four most innovative and disruptive payment processing solutions for e-commerce minded developers.
