eBay Add-on for Firefox

Posted on 5.02.2007

Mozilla has announced an add-on to the Firefox browser dubbed Firefox eBay Companion. In beta with limited testing in only the U.K., Germany and France, the add-on is a sidebar allows users to constantly monitor their deals in real-time. Alerts are displayed whenever an item is sold or the status changes and includes an integrated search tool. Full release is expected in August.

This seems like a great feature, especially for professional eBay sellers to be able to constantly monitor their transactions while taking care of other business. The add-on is sure to draw major interest from both professionals, amatuers and those killing time on the company clock. It's not hard to imagine that Mozilla will see an increase in Firefox downloads for the eBay gadget alone. It's also a good move by eBay to further cement their status as the premier online auction site by becoming a part of the browser experience.
