eBay Expands Click & Collect Service in UK
After a successful trial period, eBay is extending its “Click & Collect” partnership with UK retailer Argos.
The Click & Collect partnership initially began in Sept. 2013, with 50 eBay sellers offering a variety of products that consumers could “collect” in 150 Argos stores. For instance, the partnership enables consumers to choose ‘Click and Collect at Argos’ as the delivery option in their eBay checkout. Then, the consumer has the ability to choose their most convenient Argos store and will receive a message when their item is ready for collection at the location.
With eBay and Argos’ extended agreement, the Click & Collect service will be made available to a larger range of eBay sellers and will include collection options from about 650 Argos stores. It is forecasted that by the end of 2014, around 65,000 eBay sellers will offer items for collection at Argos, and that number is expected to rise to 80,000 in 2015. It is important to note that eligible sellers will be enrolled in the service and simply need to prepare orders for despatch as normal.
“Retail has changed and shoppers are in the driving seat like never before. They want to shop anytime, anywhere, on any device and British shoppers love to Click & Collect,” said Tanya Lawler, UK vice president of eBay. “It’s a service being rapidly adopted by larger retailers and this partnership with Argos now gives tens of thousands of sellers the chance to capitalize on Click & Collect, even if they have no high street presence of their own.”
