E-Commerce Payment Processing in WordPress

Posted on 11.15.2013

WordPress really wasn't designed as an e-commerce platform, but that's certainly not stopping some from retrofitting the platform to do exactly that.

BBS Buying Group for example this week launched WP Payment Processing, a system (a plugin really) that will enable WordPress users to not only accept credit card payments, but use the platform as a fully featured shopping cart. Users are not actually guaranteed a merchant account but the company did say that they could be up and running quickly and boasts a 99 percent approval rate.

The merchant account will provide a keyed rate of 1.99 percent for major credit cards, with a $0.20 fee per transaction, although there is no monthly minimum. Those are quite competitive rates overall but the features is where the plugin could really stand out.

You can set up your multiple products and categorize/organize them into multiple product categories. Add additional images to showcase your products so that users know what they are buying and add digital downloads to products if needed so that users can securely download paid files from your website.

With suppliers, shipping methods, payment gateway, product variations/custom fields, product inventory, affiliate products, discount coupons and many other amazing features, you can run a full featured online WordPress shop that suits your needs.
