Ecommerce SEO the Focus of 3dcart 6.2
Search visibility plays a key role in the success of an e-commerce store, which is why 3dcart has amped up the SEO features in version 6.2 of its shopping cart software.
“The major search engines, such as Google, are constantly changing their algorithms for how they rank websites,” said Joe Palko, chief marketing officer at 3dcart. “There are certain things that website owners need to do with their sites in order to meet the search engine's requirements and this latest release builds in many tools that help our merchants do just that.”
Learn more about 3dcart’s new SEO features below:
Canonical URLs – canonical tags instruct search engines which page should be indexed. This helps merchants avoid receiving duplicate content penalties, which result from identical pages being indexed.
301 Redirects – an improved way to let the search engines know that a previously indexed page has been removed and visitor traffic should be redirected to a replacement page.
Sitemap Creation and Search Engine Submission – merchants have more control over their sitemap, which allows them to re-submit when new pages have been added, removed or updated. Plus, it is easier for the sitemap to be submitted to Google and Bing once changes have been made.
Product Page Rich Snippets – merchants can display additional information within the search engine results to provide a better search experience for the customer. Examples of the types of data that can be included are product reviews, pricing information and more.
Product Open Graph Meta Tags – this feature allows the store to pass more detailed information about individual products when visitors share product URLs with social media sites like Facebook, Google+, Pinterest and more.
In addition to these SEO features, version 6.2 of the 3dcart shopping cart includes Google Universal Analytics to give merchants more insights into visitor behavior. Moreover, the release features a search engine friendly update to site pagination and new custom filename capabilities to the “Shop by Brand” feature.
