With more than 200 million active websites (and growing), it’s safe to say there is no shortage of companies on the ‘Net today. There are a small percentage of these companies, however, that can be considered premier digital destinations (those which control the majority share of voice or are a well-known and dominant market provider). To break through the clutter of hundreds of millions of websites, these digital leaders leverage innovative technologies and a legion of best practice techniques.

Technology and best practices echo in every nook and cranny of an elite digital brand’s Web presence, but nowhere more so than its infrastructure and software applications, its customer acquisition and retention efforts, and its commitment to optimization and user experience. This Digital Trinity, if you will, is at the core of Website Magazine’s feature article this month. Our editors explore the companies that abide, knowingly or not, by this principle. In turn, these enterprises are setting the standard for digital success and every Web worker can stand to learn from them.

This feature is only the tip of the iceberg for Website Magazine’s extensive look into the Web’s best. Our editors are interviewing the biggest influencers in the digital realm and assembling our first-ever Web 100 Guide, which pays homage to companies (through six categories) that are doing everything right and very little wrong. Make sure to look out for Website Magazine emails, as we’ll tell you how to get your very own copy, very soon.

Aside from today’s best Web companies, this January 2013 issue provides readers with tested and practical information for success across all channels. From innovative software that empowers merchants to view analytics in the most visual way we’ve ever seen, to new Pinterest opportunities that can increase digital awareness (and with any luck traffic and conversions), to best practices in both replatforming a website and in mobile email design, this issue is the perfect way to start the digital new year. There’s also numerous other valuable items within this issue, which covers selecting an omnichannel CRM, keeping affiliates in check, presenting big data and a whole lot more.
