Email Challenge and Response Services

Posted on 7.11.2012

Web workers are forced to deal with an immense volume of email – from the necessary internal and external communications to opt-in materials, SPAM and, yes, even Bacn (spam you want but not right now.)

To control the volume of email, many Web workers opt to use email challenge and response services. These cloud-based (and sometimes desktop-based) systems send challenge responses to senders of email to confirm identify. When an email arrives from an unknown sender, a reply email is sent back asking that sender to authenticate wither by clicking on a link, answer a question or typing text or characters that are seen or heard.

There are many email verification services on the market and if you’re a sender of bulk email at any volume, you’re likely already familiar with some. While many will choose platforms like Gmail which have spam prevention technology built in (courtesy of Postini in the case of Google) others will want some added protection should they use their own domain and related email services.

If you’re someone that receives a high volume of email know that you are not alone. WM is here to help with a great starter list of Email Verification Services for Power Web Workers.
