Ethoca Offers Free Service to Help Fight Fraud

Posted on 3.17.2010

Anti-fraud solutions provider Ethoca has announced a free negative-signals service designed to protect and unify online merchants. The new service, Ethoca360 Negative Signals, is intended to augment the flagship Ethoca360 Signals technology but is fully functional on its own. Ethoca360 Negative Signals can identify a history of chargebacks, card-not-present (CNP) fraud, data inconsistencies and other unwanted behaviors linked to a pending order.

The company’s flagship Ethoca360 Signals is a fraud-detection service that checks transactions in real-time and identifies matches and patterns through color-coded signals. Favorable transaction histories create positive signals while negative signals indicate fraud risk. Merchants can obtain the negative-signals part of the service for free and they have the option to upgrade to the full Ethoca360 Signals product.

Negative signals information can be incorporated directly into merchants’ fraud scoring or used as decision support when manually reviewing orders. Ethoca decided to make it freely available to all online merchants in an effort to build broader industry collaboration and to stem the losses that are suffered to online fraud each year.
