Facebook Dominating Social Login [Infographic]
Facebook is the social network of choice for consumers leveraging social login.
In fact, a recent Gigya study reveals that in Q1 2014, Facebook powered 51 percent of social logins in North America. Coming in second was Google, which powered 28 percent of social logins, followed by Yahoo at 13 percent and Twitter at four percent.
Facebook is a particularly popular login option in the education/non-profit and e-commerce verticals. For example, Gigya’s data shows that Facebook powered 80 percent of social logins on education/non-profit sites and apps in Q1, while it accounted for 77 percent of social logins in the e-commerce industry.
The study also looked at mobile devices, finding that Facebook powered 62 percent of mobile logins in Q1, followed by Google at 26 percent and Twitter at 6 percent. That said, Gigya notes that it expects Google's mobile logins to increase as Android devices begin including Google authentication into native apps.
