Facebook Unveils New Voice Calling App
Facebook has taken the world by storm and as it aims to keep its place atop the mountain of social media networks it is constantly looking for new to integrate its platform into consumer’s daily lives.
The latest way that Facebook is trying to make itself more functional is through its new app “Hello”.
The new app, built by the Messenger team, helps to give call receivers a better idea of who is on the other side of the call. Users will see the name of their Facebook friend on the other end of the call even if they don’t have the number saved in their phone. Call receivers will only see the information that people have already shared with them on Facebook. Also, for unwanted calls users can easily adjust the settings to automatically block calls from specific numbers. Calls from numbers that are blocked go straights to voicemail for later viewing.
Moreover, users can leverage the new app to search for people and business on Facebook and call them with a single tap. According to Facebook, “if a friend tells you about a new restaurant in your neighborhood, you can use Hello to find their hours, make a reservation and get directions, all without leaving the app.”
Facebook is currently testing the app on Android devices only.
