Feedback & Insights Into Coveo for Sitecore
Coveo, a provider of search and website search technologies, recently announced general availability and first customer use cases of Coveo for Sitecore - Free Edition, their advanced search solution for Sitecore websites. The new free product makes advanced enterprise search capabilities available to companies of all types and sizes.
With this news, Website Magazine enlisted the help of Coveo executives Tucker Hall and JP Provencal, as well as Coveo partner John Berndt to see why this release has the potential to be a game-changer for digital enterprises.
What makes search such a critical driver of site experience?
When it comes to personalized Web customer experiences, recent Coveo research indicates that enterprise search can increase a site’s number of repeat visitors by 60 percent, lift page views per visitor by 33 percent and–most importantly –increase conversions by over 30 percent. This is possible because enterprise search technology enables the indexing and normalization of diverse content collected from experience databases. Innovative knowledge management and customer engagement platforms have incorporated these database platforms into their solutions to capture activity from all channels (e.g. WCM, CRM, Community portals, enterprise systems, social media, etc.) and use this diverse data to develop contextual awareness and personalize content accordingly. When certain content proves high-impact for specific visitor or user profiles, an intelligent search and indexing solution empowers managers to quickly tune the personalization engine itself so that highly relevant content is getting to the right people at precisely the right moment.
These capabilities are critical because customers are now empowered to engage with companies when and how they choose, across an ever-evolving array of channels: social media, email, websites, self-service portals, call centers, field service, etc. Creating a personalized customer experience requires a complete, real-time understanding of the customer and their unique history with the brand and building this understanding requires real-time analysis of all the customer’s interactions with the company to date, across all channels….not just the Web. Enterprise search technology is uniquely suited to conquering this roadblock to personalization. It enables companies to analyze all of their customer engagement channels and enterprise knowledge streams in real-time and from this analysis gain a “contextual profile” for each customer at any precise moment. This type of real-time contextual awareness – informed by automated analysis of activity and communications across all channels – is the only path to true personalization.

Since the beta version was announced in September, what has the feedback been like from those who have used Coveo for Sitecore – Free Edition?
So far, there’s been a lot of interest and uptake from developers who might not have adopted Coveo at this time--since they get to try before they buy and can experiment without the cost of entry. Coveo fills an obvious gap within Sitecore that everyone wrestles with (no rich out-of-the-box search features), so I'd expect the new Coveo for Sitecore offering to be very popular.

What types of rich search experiences does Coveo for Sitecore – Free Edition provide?
This free version has the advanced features and scalability that developers need to use the full potential of the Sitecore platform. A free option for enterprise search that’s flexible enough to expand its capabilities over the lifetime of a website or as search demands grow is key for organizations that are growing as well. You can start simple by building out your site using the free edition of Coveo for Sitecore and then upgrade to Coveo for Sitecore – Enterprise Edition when your site needs more advanced features.
