Fraud Detection in Customer Identify

Customer identify and access management (CIAM) solution Janrain has eliminating (reducing) fraud in its virtual sights, announcing this week that it is the first CIAM offering to integrate a fraud detection score into its product.

Janrain's new fraud score will essentially warn brands of potential problems by running a background check on new users (leveraging AI-based Web traffic pattern analysis) to determine if the phone number associated with the identify is known for bad behavior (such as being a known sender of spam, or responsible for logging into a site repeatedly).

What's really interesting here is that the Janrain score will enable companies to make actual decision about how to treat rogue identities during registration, sign-in, or (and arguably most importantly) completion of high-value transactions.

"This marks yet another important industry first from Janrain," said Marla Hay, Director of Product at Janrain. "The tremendous volume of data consumers generate online represents a golden opportunity for consumer-facing organizations to truly get to know their customers, but it's also the responsibility of these businesses to protect this data. Only with Janrain can brands get an extra layer of protection embedded into a complete CIAM solution that detects potentially malicious activity before it harms customers and their reputations."
