Google+ Becoming Vain - 'Net Briefs (October 2012)

Google probably thinks this write-up is about them. Google+ rolled out vanity URLs for major verified brand pages, like Toyota. Unfortunately, this is just a trial run, and there is no word on when custom URLs will be a reality for all users. Even more of a plus is the introduction of business-friendly APIs. Now, social media management tools (e.g. HootSuite) have access to APIs, which allow them to connect with brand or business pages on the social network. Using these tools makes it much easier for users to schedule, monitor and track posts on the social network.
