Google Enables App Search Ads in Google Play Store
App developers are always looking for new ways to get their apps noticed and increase their download rates.
In order to help enhance app discovery, developers will now be able to have their apps appear in search ads that will appear on top of organic search results in the Google Play store. App search ads will be differentiated from organic results through a small yellow “Ad” icon located just underneath the name of the app.
Google states it will be rolling out the ads to a select set of users in the coming weeks. The ads that will be initially displayed will be from a pilot group of advertisers which already run Google Search ads for their apps.
"With more than 100 billion searches every month on Google.com, we’ve seen how search ads shown next to organic search results on Google.com can significantly improve content discovery for users and advertisers, both large and small," states the Android blog announcement. "Search ads on Google Play will enable developers to drive more awareness of their apps and provide consumers new ways to discover apps that they otherwise might have missed."
