Grand Central Goes To Google

Google has acquired GrantCentral Communications, a company that provides services for managing your voice communications. Users can take all of their existing phone numbers and voice mailboxes into one account which can then be accessed from the Web.

Via the Official Google Blog, "We think GrandCentral's technology fits well into Google's efforts to provide services that enhance the collaborative exchange of information between our users." The practical application for this purchase could really benefit Internet entrepenuers that work from home or are always on the road (or at work). Essentially, you'll get one phone number that you can set to ring on the phone of you choice based on who's calling. "This way, your phone number is tied to you, and your location or job," according to the official statement.
