Google Makes Mobile Forms More User Friendly

Posted on 3.16.2015

Mobile has taken over an ever increasing importance in consumers’ lives and in order for brand to be successful in the coming years they must realize this trend.

Understanding users ever-increasing love of mobile devices, Google has announced that its Chrome app now fully supports form autocomplete functionality.

While mobile technology is still far from perfect, one of the most cumbersome actions to perform on a mobile device is form completion. Typing on a phone is no picnic, often resulting in misspelled words from the devices autocorrect function or the user’s sloppy thumbs, and with the length of some online forms it can also be rather time consuming. However, through the autocomplete function users simply have to select a text field and it will bring up their personal information for each box, resulting in a much faster and more pleasant experience.

“In a world where users browse the internet using their mobile devices more than their laptops or desktops, having forms that are easy and quick to fill out is crucial! Three years ago, we announced the support for a new ‘autocomplete’ attribute in Chrome, to make form-filling faster, easier and smarter,” states the Google blog post. Now, Chrome fully supports the ‘autocomplete’ attribute for form fields according to the current WHATWG HTML Standard.”
