Google Places Update Simplifies Local Search Management
Achieving success with local listings in the search engines, namely Google, is of paramount importance to today's enterprises.
Neustar recently published an infographic/report on the high conversion rates experienced in local search (by those using mobile phones specifically), and another survey from Placeable has revealed that consumers lose trust in a local business when listings are inaccurate. "Local" should obviously be a priority, but what's a digital marketer to do to ensure their success?
Those that manage multiple listings will be pleased to discover that after the recent update to its bulk import tool for managing Google Places local listings, a fresh round of updates are coming soon to the location management dashboard. Google will soon show the status of each location on Maps, making it possible to see which locations are live, unverified, are experiencing data conflicts, duplications, or those which are simply pending review.
Google will also begin introducing an interface to highlight "data conflicts," revealing how a location page might differ on Maps/Search results versus what it appearing in the dashboard.
