Google Serves Up Food Ordering via Search
Google search engine users can now order food directly from the search results.
With the new functionality, users are able to search for nearby restaurants on their mobile phone. Some searches will display an option to “Place an order” in the results. Users can then tap that call-to-action, choose a delivery service and then they will be directed to the service’s website to complete the order.
Google notes that initially users will only be able to order via six providers in the U.S., including Seamless, Grubhub, Eat24, Delivery.com, BeyondMenu and MyPizza.com. That said, Google is looking to add more delivery services in the future.
