Google Shows Promise in Social Login
Facebook's virtual stranglehold on social login seems to be loosening.
Customer identity management provider Gigya released its Landscape of Customer Identity report for Q4 2016 and found that while Facebook credential account ed for 62 percent of all website social logins, the social network did see a slight decline from Q2 when it peaked at 66 percent.
Logins with Google credentials are likely the reason for the Facebook login decline. Google came in at 24 percent in the Q4 Gigya study - in the second quarter of 2015 Google was at 20 percent. That's not a major increase for Google but it could show the virtual tide is turning.
