Groupon Grows DIY Deal Builder Tool
Groupon is expanding its Deal Builder tool, as the company announced that it will now support restaurants and provide all businesses with more control over the appearance and structure of their promotions.
Groupon’s DIY Deal Builder tool was initially launched in February as a convenient way for merchants to create their own Groupon deal. Since launch, the tool has been used to create more than 25,000 deals by local businesses in the U.S. and Canada. According to Groupon, the most popular categories since launch include services, beauty and wellness, leisure and activities and retail and shopping.
"Deal Builder has enabled us to vastly expand the number of merchants with whom we work and enhance the ways we help them promote and build their business through Groupon," said Julie Szudarek, senior vice president, Local Deals. "More than 95 percent of the businesses that have built deals through the platform have been new to Groupon, which has helped us expand the selection and geographic reach of our marketplace."
With the tool’s new updates, all local businesses (including restaurants) will be able to select a deal image from more than 5,000 category-specific stock photo options, write a summary of their offer and choose from a larger number of deal examples to create promotions. Moreover, users will fill out a brief question and answer interview that will be added to the live Groupon deal page. This interview will highlight the unique aspects of the business and will add some personalization to the promotion.
