Half-Off On Twitter - 'Net Briefs
Twitter recently announced that it now has 100 million active users. Great news, right? Well, maybe not when you consider that the site has had over 200 million user accounts since April. However, most of those users don’t qualify as “active,” which is defined as someone who signs into Twitter and uses the site at least once a month. In other words, over 50 percent of Twitter accounts are inactive according to the company’s own statistics, though it doesn’t know how many are totally abandoned and how many are just barely maintained. One thing that is for sure: Twitter is pretty good at reeling users in, but not quite as impressive when it comes to holding their attention. Such is the plight of microblogging, it seems.
