Handwriting Recognition Tech Comes to iOS8 with MyScript
Myscript will be providing developers with an opportunity to support handwritten input from users on iOS devices, introducing two input panel applications that offer alternatives to traditional keyword entry. The technology can be used to create applications such as those for note-taking, music notation, education and games.
The first application in development for iOS 8 allows real-time text input using fingertip and stylus. The auto scrolling input panel, according to MyScript, will provide an alternative to onscreen and physical keyboard in applications requiring text entry (such as email, text editor, calendar, web browser, SMS, MMS, etc) by converting digital text in the native application in real time. The input panel will allow users to leverage "intuitive gestures" for editing (for example, words and sentences can be quickly moved, split, joined, overwritten, and erased).
The second app under development for iOS 8 from MyScript will allow for superimposed character input. In other words, the input panel will allow users to write characters on top of each other, which can make text entry very convenient. Handwriting will be captured at rotations up to 40°, allowing for greater flexibility for mobile users.
