Have You Checked the Archives?

Posted on 12.15.2014

Part of what makes the Internet and search engines such great tools is their combined ability to find nearly anything that has been published, past and present.

Google has recently taken steps to help users in this quest by reintroducing the ability to search the Google News Archive.

The Archive, which contains stories dating back to 2003, was originally taken offline a few years ago but thanks to users insistence the search engine has given it new life. To use the feature, users must tab over to News and select “Search Tools” and follow that by changing the time period form “Recent” to “Archives”.

“Great news--we've re-enabled archives search! Our team listened to all your feedback you left here in the forum, and was hard at work to bring you an even better archive experience,” states Google News representative Stacie C on the Google News Help Forum. “From all the posts we received, we heard loud and clear how important these archives are to our users. You can now go digging back in time to 2003.”
