Horizon Interactive Awards Calls for Entries, 508 Compliant Websites

Posted on 11.18.2013

The Web is for everyone; and good design and development caters to individual needs, whether that’s based on location, culture, age, or physical or mental ability

Nobody, however, said it was easy. This is why the Horizon Interactive Awards has added a new honor for 508 compliance/accessibility – an act that requires that federal agencies’ electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities.

The 508 compliance/accessibility award is not the only hyper-specific recognition that the Horizon Interactive Awards (HIA) added this year. HIA’s Founder and President Mike Sauce told Website Magazine in Aug. 2013 that they added these awards to allow sites to achieve recognition that is more specific. For example, HIA added the Bank/Finance, Restaurant/Food Industry, Legal, Towns & Municipalities, and Travel and Tourism awards under the Web category. See a list of all the categories in the image below.

The deadline to enter the Horizon Interactive Awards is fast approaching. Entries must be received by Dec. 20, 2013

For a list of past winners, visit the 2012 winners directory. You’ll see some impressive names in the tech field, like Accenture, Americaneagle.com, Responsys, Yesmail and more.
