How to Get Your Tweets Indexed in Google
Does social media influence search? Perhaps, but not (exactly) how you might think.
Stone Temple Consulting recently analyzed the way that the search engine indexes tweets, and what it discovered will surprise you.
The company wanted to learn how Google might use signals from twitter for ranking purposes, but it stumbled upon quite a bit of interesting information in the process - some of which shows how you too can see your tweets indexed in Google.
Stone Temple Consulting found that Google doesn't actually index a significant percentage of tweets at all; in fact, it's data suggests that the indexing rate of tweets is actually quite low (the company provided a breakdown of indexed tweets by month over the past few years on its blog).
The study also revealed that the tweets that Google indexes are highly biased to Twitter profiles with more than 1 million followers. But even for those high-authority account, indexing isn't particularly fast.
