IAB Releases Benchmark for Mobile Ad Formats

Posted on 7.19.2010

In its continued efforts to educate the online advertising ecosystem about developments in mobile applications, the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) has released a report titled Prevailing Mobile In-Application Advertising Formats. The document showcases current trends in mobile advertising and covers the seven major platforms including Android, Blackberry, iPad, iPhone/iPod Touch, Palm, Symbian and Windows Mobile.

The industry’s first benchmark for ad formats being offered in mobile applications, the report includes an overview of the most common formats being sold by mobile app publishers; the points of emerging similarities and differences in ad sizes among app providers, and the launch of a resource that will help the advertising marketplace keep abreast of widely available ad formats as well as emerging trends as they develop. Previously, the IAB has released a Mobile Buyers’ Guide and a Mobile Platform Status Report.
