In Focus: Billing Revolution?

Billing Revolution announced last week that it will begin offering a "single-click" billing and payment service in an effort to streamline mobile purchases. Do you believe in the power of mobile ecommerce? You might be the only one.

It's seems like a rather exhaustive process. When consumers are ready to buy something from a merchant that employs Billing Revolution's payment service, they are redirected to a purchase page on the Billing Revolution site where they input their credit card information via their phone. Billing Revolution then sends an SMS receipt to the customers phone which includes an authentication link for the current purchase. For all future purchases, consumers will need only to click 'buy' for a transaction to be completed when using other merchants using the Billing Revolution system.

There are so many issues, I'm not sure where to begin. Billing Revolution has its work cut out for it in securing merchant relationships which are often hesitant to include a third party payment/billing option much less one with a solely mobile focus. On the surface, it seems like it would be a good idea until you end up typing in your credit card info on a three-inch screen. As a means to accelerate the shopping experience when you don't need to closely examine something, like concert tickets or train tickets, Billing Revolution might be a viable alternative to mobile payments made through PayPal.
