Industry Benchmarks for Google AdWords

Digital advertising solution WordStream released some interesting (and rather valuable) research on Google AdWords recently and if you're spending anything to acquire new users in the digital realm, the research is something that should be explored in detail.

WordStream, which offers a range of services for digital advertisers, analyzed its own client data to come up with benchmarks for average click-through rate, average cost per click, average conversion rate, and average cost per action. 

The research reveals these averages for 20 industries and the results, whether you're a first-time PPC advertiser or an experienced brand marketer, are intriguing. 

+ The average click-through rate (CTR) in AdWords across all industries is 1.91 percent on the search network and 0.35 percent on the display network.

+ The average cost per click (CPC) in AdWords across all industries is $2.32 on the search network and $0.58 on the display network. 

+ The average conversion rate in AdWords across all industries is 2.70 percent for search and 0.89 percent for display.

+ The average CPA in AdWords across all industries is $59.18 for search and $60.76 for display.
