Into the Cloud; Azure, Joyent Partner Up with Magento

Posted on 1.18.2015

eBay Enterprise is providing retailers more options for hosting their Magento deployments, announcing that both Microsoft Azure and Joyent have joined the Magento Hosting Partner ecosystem.

E-commerce brands are hurrying to the cloud these days as solutions such as Azure and Joyent (as well as Rackspace and Peer1, two other cloud hosting providers in the program) provide faster time to market for new deployments, greater flexibility to scale during peak activity, as well as the easing of complications surrounding the expansion of a brand into international markets.

Many Magento-based sites are already using cloud hosting. Fashion accessory brand, Kendra Scott, for example, turned to Magento in the cloud (Rackspace) to help optimize its operations during the holidays in order to keep up with the high pace of sales. “I love the ability to easily expand during critical peak periods when we need the extra bandwidth and then just as easily turn that capacity off with our managed cloud solution from Rackspace,” said Tria Foster, vice president of Ecommerce and Loyalty for Kendra Scott Design.

“Our cloud partners provide access to cost-effective, scalable and more secure infrastructure to retailers on a global scale,” noted Craig Hayman, president, eBay Enterprise, “which complements Magento’s unique worldwide developer network and their ability to deliver customized, innovative commerce experiences. Together, this powerful ecosystem allows merchants to have total creative control while also delivering solutions to fuel their growth.”
