IP Geolocation for the Big Data Age
Neustar recently introduced a new big-data friendly IP geolocation solution that will provide its customers with improved coverage and accuracy when geo-locating an IP address.
The new Custom GeoPoint offering enables users (those needing to gather details about an IP's origin for the sake of fraud or security or those wanting to offer hyper-localized deals, like marketers) to both customize their geolocation data and input their own traffic or transaction data in order to refine existing IP location data using Neustar's technology and processes.
Unlike similar services that often rely heavily on registry data, network technologies and contextual intelligence to produce the necessary IP locations, Neustar's solution uses several different data sources and hundreds of millions of data points.
“With Custom GeoPoint, we’re letting the users decide the type of location data they want, and it’s based on their needs,” said Rupert Young, general manager of product for identification and verification solutions at Neustar. “From the organization that needs specific details about an IP’s origin, to the marketers, advertisers and publishers who want to offer hyper-localized deals, Custom GeoPoint is the next step in the evolution of IP Geolocation data,” Young added.
