Machine Learning in the Cloud with Google

Posted on 3.30.2016

Google introduced a new cloud-based machine learning platform last week that will allow users to access its artificial intelligence (AI) technology.

Coupled with its existing cloud services, the machine learning platform will likely be quite appealing to business-focused developers, particularly those looking to move beyond using the cloud as a storage medium exclusively and toward bundled opportunities that will enable them to both store and analyze large amounts of data.

Making the announcement during the GCP Next conference, Google also indicated its new services would include application programming interfaces (APIs) for automatic image identification, speech recognition, language translation and more.

The platform is powered by the company’s TensorFlow neural network software, which was released last year to the open-source community and which powers the company’s Cloud Speech API and the Cloud Translate API. Early adopters of the smart cloud platform are expected to include Home Depot, Spotify, Apple and Disney, among others.
