March Online Video Rankings Shows Continued Growth
Video, as a channel, just keeps growing and growing. comScore released data from its Video Metrix service last week showing 187.8 million Americans watched 46.6 billion online content videos in March 2014.
Where should you spend time and resources distributing and promoting your Web-based videos (the number of video ad views, consequently, totaled 28.7 billion)?
Google Sites (which are driven mainly by YouTube), ranked as the top video content property with 155.6 million unique viewers, followed by Facebook (88.4 million viewers, AOL with 69.4 million, Yahoo Sites with 55.6 million and NDN with nearly 51 million.
Comscore also reported on the top U.S. online video ad properties which include LiveRail, AOL, BrightRoll and others (full chart, including details on total minutes, frequency, and reach percentage, is below).
Other interesting findings include:
- 85.9 percent of the U.S. Internet audience viewed online video.
- The duration of the average online content video was 4.3 minutes, while the average online video ad was 0.4 minutes.
- Video ads accounted for 38.1 percent of all videos viewed and 5.1 percent of all minutes spent viewing video online.
