There Goes The Flash

Posted on 4.09.2006

Microsoft will permenantly modify the way the Internet Explorer browser renders multimedia content such as Flash within Web pages. The changes could be disruptive, so the software maker is giving developers an extra sixty days to make preperations. If you fail to make the neccessary changes to your pages, Java applets and ActiveX controls will require user activation before they will load.

From eWeek, "The IE update, which results from a multimillion-dollar patent spat with Eolas Technologies, changes the way the browser handles ActiveX controls and could have a significant impact on how online advertising and streaming media content is delivered over the Internet."
