Microhoo? Microsoft Wants Yahoo

Posted on 5.03.2007
Word is that Microsoft is trying to buy Yahoo (Yahoo! stock price increased 20% on the mention alone). Strategically, it would be a smart move to team up as it could help both organizations better compete with Google. According to the AP Story, "The New York Post reported Friday that Microsoft has asked Yahoo to enter formal negotiations for an acquisition that could be worth $50 billion. Yahoo's market capitalization was about $38 billion on Thursday."

What does this mean to you? In the short term, not much. In the long term, Microhoo could play a much more significant role in your online advertising budget (if this deal goes through) especially with the Yahoo's recent purchase of Right Media.
