Millions of new gTLDs Pre-Reserved
New generic top-level domains (gTLDs) are coming to the 'Net (sooner than you might think) and by the count of 1&1, quite a few of them.
On its platform for the new gTLDs, the company indicated that it has handled over 3.5 million pre-reservations. That's huge considering there are only 188 million active sites on the 'Net in general.
The top five new gTLDs as it stands today are .Web, .Online, .Shop, .App, and .blog, but 1&1 goes into detail about the Top 30 general top-level domains reserved on its platform, as well as those classified for various use cases including business, travel, sports, shopping, technology, religion, etc.
Keep in mind that pre-reserving these new gTLDs doesn't obligate you to purchase them when the sunrise period arrives for each one. If you're looking to differentiate your company and its brands from the competition, this is going to be one of the most exciting, and likely effective, ways to do so in the coming year.
