Mitigate the E-Commerce Mobile and Tax Headaches

Posted on 11.19.2013

Two of the most talked-about topics in the e-commerce industry during 2013 have been the importance of mobile and the looming tax laws – and a new update to Volusion’s e-commerce offering addresses both.

Volusion’s revamped platform includes a variety of new features to help merchants sell more effectively in the evolving e-commerce market. For example, with the new updates Volusion merchants can customize their mobile checkout, which has been revamped to deliver a simple purchasing process and reduce abandoned carts.

In addition, merchants have access to a native Volusion app, which enables them to monitor store operations from anywhere. The app is available for free on both iOS and Android devices, and allows merchants to track orders and revenue, look at historical performance, monitor inventory levels, review top selling items as well as receive order notifications and low stock alerts.

"As we see rapid growth in the use of mobile devices to conduct commerce, it becomes increasingly important for online retailers to meet this demand via new mobile capabilities,” says Clay Olivier, CEO, Volusion, Inc. “By making these features available to all of our merchants, they can better focus on growing their businesses instead of dedicating time and resources to mobile development."

Aside from mobile updates, Volusion has also released an automatic tax calculator and inline editor for its platform. The tax calculator helps merchants keep up with the plethora of tax rates across the United States by applying the appropriate rates for all locations. Plus, Volusion’s new storefront page editor allows merchants to make site updates more efficiently. In fact, the editor enables merchants to make immediate changes online to their storefronts without the need to make adjustments in their admin or HTML code.

"These exciting features are designed to further enable the success of our merchants, who continue to reach new heights in the number of orders processed and sales earned," says Olivier. "As we move into the holiday season and into 2014, we are fully dedicated to empowering our customers by adding even more innovations to our software, services and support."
