New Ads Jump Off the Page

The standard digital advertisement combination of a picture and a few words just doesn’t cut it anymore, and advertisement companies are taking notice.

Adnimation is trying to free the Internet of tiresome 2-D advertisements by rolling out their own 3-D ads. The company hopes that the 3-D aspect will bring more attention to the ads thus creating more clicks for advertisers as well as revenue for publishers.

According to an article published on The Guardian, display ads only garner “one click per every 1,000 impressions.” This lack of attention given to ads by consumers is what is known as “Banner Blindness," as many Internet professionals are well aware. 

The way that Adnimation combats users' ad blindness is by using a stationary text image with a moving GIF that lies on top of the text. The GIF animation uses occlusion (where a near surface overlaps with a far surface) to convey a sense of depth and movement (as if the ads are jumping off the page).
