New iOS App Pulls Facebook Recommendations

Posted on 8.12.2014

Eighty-eight percent of consumers are reported to have been influenced by consumer reviews when making a purchase.

Consumer reviews are one of the most influential factors in the buying process and consumers are not shy to express their opinions. With consumers seemingly always on the move today it is important that they are able to access reviews on their terms in order for them to make the most informed decision.

WhoDoYou, a relatively young consumer review service, has announced the release of their first app for iOS devices.

In the same vein as Angie’s List, WhoDoYou lets users search for a professional or company based on ratings and reviews. However, instead of asking users to come to WhoDoYou to rate and write reviews, the company takes reviews directly from Facebook.

To do so, the company crawls Facebook looking for questions and statements from users about needing to hire a business or individual for a job. WhoDoYou then indexess the entire conversation between the original statement maker and all of the commenters. For example if a Facebook member posts that they need an electrician, WhoDoYou will index the entire conversation and make it searchable on their website. Of course, the user's settings must be on public.

“Because it is collected from genuine conversations between friends, the quality of the information found on WhoDoYou surpasses that of other leading review services, which are rife with bias and manipulation,” said Yoav Schwartz, founder and CEO.

The app is now available on both Android and iOS devices.
