NFL Team Kicks Off Season with a New E-Commerce Site
American football fans are gearing up for a new NFL season by participating in fantasy football drafts, watching preseason games and, of course, buying new gear to sport all season long.
To improve the experience that fans have with the latter, the Carolina Panthers are welcoming fans back with the launch of a new online store. The updated store is powered by BigCommerce Enterprise and includes a new responsive design, faster page load times and a streamlined checkout (including buy online, pick up in store which is convenient for last-minute purchases that a customer may want for a game).
With 1 in 4 NFL fans having an income higher than $100,000 and NFL viewership among women growing by the season (which make the majority of household purchase decisions), the Panthers were smart to invest in their e-commerce site to meet expectations that modern shoppers have.
“Football is a high-stress, high-stakes environment, but replatforming your online store doesn’t have to be,” said Russell Griffin, vice president of mid-market sales and channel for BigCommerce. “By migrating to a flexible, modern platform, the entire Panthers organization can focus on the things that really matter rather than worrying about managing the intricacies of their e-commerce infrastructure.”
Delaware North Sportservice is the team’s official food, beverage and retail provider, which chose BigCommerce to rebuild the online store for the 2016 NFL season and also selected EYStudios to redesign the online store.
“We wanted to provide Panthers fans around the world with an exceptional online shopping experience,” said Tom Crocker, Delaware North Sportservice general manager at Bank of America Stadium. “BigCommerce worked with us to expand and enhance mobile shopping for team products, making it easier for fans to browse for the latest team gear from anywhere and from any device at any time.”
