OpenTable Integration Expands Mobile Payment Support
Consumers today are using mobile in ways that were never even imagined 10 years ago. One of many new ways in which consumers are leveraging their smartphones is to pay for their meal at restaurants.
OpenTable, an online restaurant reservation platform, and NCR Corporation, a provider of consumer transaction technologies, recently announced they have integrated OpenTable’s “Pay with OpenTable” app with NCR’s Aloha point-of-sale (PoS) solution through NCR’s Hosted API platform.
A cloud-based gateway, NCR’s Hosted API platform enables third parties to integrate, maintain and deploy their services across NCR’s point-of-sale systems. Diners using OpenTable are able to pay at participating restaurants by simply adding a credit card to the app before they eat and then view and pay their check on the smartphone, no separate app or barcode scanning necessary.
While only available in select cities at this time, Pay with OpenTable will be open to NCR Aloha customers in the second half of 2015.
“The integration with the NCR Aloha point-of-sale solution makes the OpenTable mobile payment experience even more widely available to our customers," said Matt Roberts, chief executive officer of OpenTable. “We’re excited about working together to power a payment and dining experience that is intuitive and elegant for both diners and restaurants.”
