Organizing the Web
Google, Microsoft and Yahoo recently announced an alliance that should demand the attention of any Web professional who relies on search results — meaning everyone. The Web’s three major search engines will be using the same standards to improve online search results for users, joining forces to recognize similar attributes for structured data markup such as microdata, microformats and RDFa. This new alliance will provide a common foundation of support for a set of microdata types that, of course, will make for an improved Web but will also require new strategies from many online businesses.
