Paid Search Sees Largest Year-over-Year Spending Increase in Three Years
As marketers seek the most effective ways to reach consumers it’s important they understand how the markets are trending and what other marketers are doing to reach their consumers.
One the most interesting takeaways from the report is that Q1 2015 saw the highest year-over-year (YoY) growth in U.S. paid search in three years (26 percent). IgnitionOne states that the credit for the increase in paid search spend is attributed to the growth of mobile and the improving economy, among other things. Also, the report revealed that total mobile display business showed strong YoY growth as well with impressions rising 85 percent and spending rising 143 percent.
Other interesting findings from the report include the growth of programmatic displays and the continued growth of Yahoo and Bings market share.
“While many have claimed Google is in decline, that is clearly not happening based on this data. Digital marketing continues to grow and Google is growing with it,” said Will Margiloff, CEO of IgnitionOne. “However, Google is not the juggernaut it used to be. It faces stiff and unyielding competition on all fronts of their vast multifaceted business in ways it hasn’t experienced for many years. It remains to be seen whether or not they can regain their previous momentum.”
