Pay Less, Do More - 'Net Briefs (October 2012)

Posted on 8.31.2012

WePay, an online payments startup, recently released new features for its Payments API, and also dropped its rates. The company, which supports not only payments, but also event registration and ticketing, custom invoicing, donations and online stores, heavily pushes its API (it accounts for approximately 25 percent of its business). It allows merchants and individuals to integrate the WePay service into their websites and applications. The new white label tokenization API gives partners more control over the checkout experience. Users can now make WePay invisible to their customers, but still use the service to process payments on the backend. WePay also dropped its rates to increase API adoption, from 3.5 percent to 2.9 percent plus 30 cents per transaction.
