Penguin 2.0 Working for Some

Posted on 6.24.2013

Last month, Google did some housekeeping. Today, some websites are cleaning up with increases in rankings and traffic. Count the Royal Air Force Museum Gift Shop, an online store supporting the charitable work of the Royal Air Force Museum, as one of them.

The gift shop has seen their search engine rankings improve following Google's Penguin 2.0 update, due to their ongoing optimization campaign with digital marketing agency Click Consult.

For the unfamiliar, Google's latest algorithm update, Penguin 2.0, is designed to reduce the number of websites achieving high rankings via black hat SEO techniques. Since the update, Royal Air Force Museum Gift Shop has seen an increase of more than 25 percent in their keyword positions, as well as a 5 percent boost in organic search traffic.

And, since the Royal Air Force Museum Gift Shop has come on board with Click Consult in Nov. 2012, it has seen a rise of more than 27 percent in organic search traffic. Across the entire campaign, they have seen an increase of 64 percent in keyword positions.

The takeaway here concerning Penguin 2.0 is that white hat optimization techniques should be the only choice for businesses.
