Downtime Impacts Big Companies Too

Posted on 4.02.2007
Pingdom, an uptime monitoring company, released a report regarding the amount of downtime the top 20 sites received so far in 2007. While these sites obviously are receiving loads of traffic, there is no excuse for any downtime - regardless of the company's size. Yahoo and Google fared the best of the top 20 (as defined by Alexa) with blogger and YouTube faring the worst with 4 hours 47 minutes and 4 hours 44 minutes downtime respectively. Do yourself a favor, starting monitoring your website for downtime.

Here's a quick list of three companies that provide this service on a free or paid basis:

1) Pingdom: The company that produced the above report
2) InternetSupervision: A Website Magazine sponsor
3) Gomez: Well-respected performance monitoring provider
